Following the appointment of the new TDI Board of Trustees in 2018, Development Technical Assistance Services (DeTAS), a consultancy firm was hired to train this new Board in leadership and governance issues. 8 Board members and 7 TDI management team members were trained. The training objectives included the following;
- To enable new members of the Board of Trustees and Management team develop a deeper understanding of TDI as an organization- its history, organization structure, values and principles and strategic direction including its theory of change.
- To enable the Board of Trustees and management team understand and be able to articulate the concept of leadership, its salient features and how these apply in the way how TDI is currently run-n what is currently working well and what need to be improved.
- To enable the Board of Trustees and management team understand and be able to articulate the concept governance and good governance and conduct a critical review of TDI’s current governance systems- what is currently working very well and what needs to be improved.
- To enable the Board of Trustees and management team critically review and develop a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the current components of TDI- Board of Trustees,, management, and Annual General Assembly.
